The gunman who killed two people at a northern Indiana grocery store before he was shot and killed by police previously lived in Illinois, according to authorities.

A person opened fire inside Martin's Super Market on Monday, Elkhart Police Department spokesperson Jessica McBrier told reporters.

There was no immediate word on what prompted the gunfire, but investigators said there was no threat to the public.
