On Sunday in Rehoboth Beach, thousands of people jumped into the frigid Atlantic as part of the Special Olympics Delaware Polar Bear Plunge.

The most notable event of the weekend, the Polar Bear Plunge, had a record number of 4416 people running into the Atlantic Ocean this year. Festival organizers say the water Sunday afternoon was a chilly 37 degrees and it was just about 41 degrees outside.

Ontario Beach Park held the annual Polar Plunge as part of the Lakeside Winter Celebration on Sunday afternoon where hundreds of participants took a dive into Lake Ontario to support Special Olympics New York.

Rochester Polar Plunge took place Sunday at Ontario Beach Park. The event is a fundraiser for the New York Special Olympics, and each participant must raise at least $100. Nearly $350,000 was raised this year from the 1,
