Much like former Notre Dame football center Zeke Correll, fourth-year linemen Pat Coogan and Rocco Spindler are transferring ahead of a youth movement.

Notre Dame offensive lineman Rocco Spindler has entered the NCAA transfer portal, just days after the team’s loss in the national championship game, On3 has learned. Spindler played extensively for the Fighting Irish this fall,

South Bend, Ind. – Notre Dame offensive lineman Pat Coogan, who started 26 games over the last two seasons and often served as the team's pregame hype man, is transferring. Coogan announced his intentions on social media Thursday and will have one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

Notre Dame reached the CFP championship game but is now feeling the effects of the transfer portal. A post-CFP wave of offensive line transfers has hit the Fighting Irish.

On Wednesday, the Irish saw three players enter the portal, offensive lineman Sam Pendleton, and a pair of wide receivers in Deion Colzie and Jayden Thomas. On Thursday, the exodus continued, as offensive lineman Rocco Spindler and Pat Coogan have now entered the portal and will play their final season somewhere other than South Bend.

It wasn’t a shock that there weren’t any Notre Dame players entering the transfer portal during their deep playoff run. With the portal window being pushed back while the team participated, the focus was solely on trying to win a championship.
