A domestic dispute in Portage Lake that escalated into a day-long standoff Monday resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man, a fatally injured police K-9, and a wounded sheriff's deputy, authorities said.

PORTAGE LAKE, Maine (WGME) — A police K-9 who was injured during a standoff in northern Maine has died. A Maine deputy was also shot before the suspect died after being shot by police on Monday.

They say Maine State Police K-9 Preacher, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois, was killed during a tactical team operation in Portage.
