No one from the family of Trent was in attendance. Police say Trent had made a quick stop at the Fred Meyer at 1111 N.E. 102nd Avenue, in the Hazelwood neighborhood, when he saw the woman being robbed, tried to help and was fatally shot around 4 p.m.

After responding to a report of a robbery and "shots fired," Portland police said they found a man lying on the ground. His death has now been ruled a homicide.

Two teenagers are in custody for allegedly killing a man who tried to stop a purse-snatching in a Fred Meyer parking lot Jan. 13, police say.
