Three days after ByteDance's TikTok went dark and then was quickly revived in the United States, users who deleted the app were anxiously checking iPhone and Android devices to find it still unavailable to be downloaded again.

If you search for TikTok on the App Store, you’ll see a message saying, “TikTok and other ByteDance apps are not available in the country or region you’re in,” while Google Play says, “Downloads for this app are paused due to current US legal requirements.”

TikTok faces an uphill battle getting back in app stores, even with Trump's executive order that says he won't enforce the TikTok ban for 75 days.

Apple and Google removed TikTok from their app stores Saturday, complying with a law requiring China's ByteDance to divest the social app or see it face an effective ban in the U.S.

TikTok is bringing its service back online in the US, after shutting down for about half a day. The company said this afternoon that it is “in the process of restoring service” and thanked President-elect Trump for “providing the necessary clarity” to do so.
