The Hughes, Sepulveda and Laguna fires are among the latest blazes for Southern California during a fourth consecutive day of red flag fire weather warnings.

A Red Flag Warning remained active for inland and mountain communities through Friday morning, which means it could be another busy day for local fire crews.

High fire danger warnings have been a recurring theme for Los Angeles in January. Here's a look at how many red flag warnings were issued this month.

"A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly," the NWS said.

Another blast of Santa Ana winds Thursday prompted San Diego Gas & Electric to cut off electricity to thousands of residents in another of a wave of power outages that have continued off and on for two weeks.

A critical fire threat will continue across County as Santa Ana winds and dry conditions persist through early Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

"If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for very rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior," the NWS warns.

LOS ANGELES – Santa Ana winds continued to gust across Southern California Thursday, driving new fires that have forced evacuations in Los Angeles and San Diego counties. Firefighters battling a fire in the Sepulveda Basin that has scorched 45 acres in Brentwood have the blaze 60 percent contained Thursday.

The Palisades and Eaton wildfires continue burning in the Los Angeles area, leaving parts of Southern California with devastating fire damage.

The Gilman Fire broke out in La Jolla neighborhood today, while a brush fire at the border with Mexico, has engulfed 20 acres. Newsweek's live blog is closed.

The bushfire started northwest of Downtown Los Angeles and spread from Los Angeles County to Ventura County and prompted evacuations.
