Google is expanding what Gemini is capable of doing from your phone’s lock screen. The new AI update will allow Android device users to quickly access Gemini extensions alongside the AI’s regular assistance without needing to unlock their phone once they’ve enabled the feature.

Gemini on Android is now a much better phone assistant. The latest update lets you access Gemini Extensions from the Android lockscreen.

1. To use Gemini extensions without having to unlock the device, open Gemini on your Android device, and head over to ‘Settings’ by tapping on the profile picture from the top right. 2. On the screen that appears, click on “Gemini on lock screen” and turn on the toggle named “Use Gemini without unlocking”.

A Community Manager from the Gemini Apps team announced last week that Gemini extensions will now work right from your phone's lock screen (via 9to5Google ). If you previously used Google Assistant, the ability to invoke and use Gemini extensions from the lock screen should already be enabled on your phone.
